postnatal doula support
How I approach postnatal support
My support begins before your baby arrives and unfolds across the postnatal period, shaped around your recovery, your baby, and what feels most supportive for you and your family.
Before your baby arrives, my support begins with preparation. All families booking postnatal doula support with me are offered a dedicated 2 hour postnatal planning session, focussed on preparing for life after your baby arrives - whether this is your first, second, or subsequent child.
This session creates space to think through how you’ll approach rest, recovery, nourishment of yourself and your family, and manage the practical demands of early parenthood. Many of the families I’ve supported have found this time invaluable for building confidence and clarity ahead of the early weeks. Together, we begin to create a flexible plan that helps you feel as supported as possible as this new chapter begins.
After your baby arrives, my support is shaped around what you and your family need in the moment. Some families benefit from more hands-on, practical support in the early days, while others value emotional reassurance, space to talk things through, or gentle guidance as they adjust. Many find their needs change week by week - and my support adapts alongside that - stepping forward when you need more support, and gently stepping back as you begin to find your feet in this new terrain.
This support can include (but is not limited to):
emotional support as you process birth and the early transition into parenthood,
care for postnatal recovery, including physical healing, emotional wellbeing, and hormonal adjustment,
non-judgmental support with infant feeding - breastfeeding (as a qualified breastfeeding counsellor), bottle feeding, or combination feeding,
practical help around the home to protect rest, recovery, and family time.
Nourishment and recovery are an important part of postnatal support. I can offer nourishing meal preparation as an optional add-on to postnatal doula support, focussing on gentle, wholesome food that supports recovery and can be shared with the whole family. This practical care can be especially supportive at a time when feeding yourself can feel hard to prioritise.
If you’re considering postnatal doula support and would like to explore whether working together feels right for you, I’d love to speak with you! A clarity call offers space to discuss what kind of support might feel most helpful, and whether my approach is a good fit for your family.
flexible postnatal support options
My postnatal doula support is offered in flexible packages of hours, allowing support to be used in a way that reflects your needs at different stages of the postnatal period. Each visit is a minimum of 2 hours in length, allowing time for meaningful, unhurried support.
Postnatal doula support - 16 hours
A lighter level of support, often used across the early weeks. With each visit being a minimum of 2 hours in length, this typically allows for around 8 visits, used flexibly.
Postnatal doula support - 24 hours
A more supportive option, offering greater continuity as your family settles. This can be used more intensively early on or spread more gently over time.
Postnatal doula support - 32 hours
More comprehensive support designed to spread throughout your fourth trimester (the first 12 weeks after your baby is born) and as your needs evolve.
If you’re considering postnatal doula support with me and would like to explore whether working together feel right for you and your family, you’re very welcome to book a clarity call.
