birth doula support
How I approach birth support
My support unfolds across pregnancy, labour and birth, and the period immediately after - shaped around you and what you need at each stage.
During pregnancy, my support focusses on helping you make sense of maternity care in a way that feels balanced, informed, and centred around you.
Drawing on 5 years’ experience, I help you navigate clinical information and recommendations as they arise, signposting you to reliable, evidence-based information (without overwhelm) and supporting you to approach decisions in a way that brings together your clinical circumstances, values, preferences and instincts.
This approach allows your preparation to adapt as your pregnancy progresses, or if things feel uncertain, helping you feel prepared for whatever birth brings - and supported to make it a positive experience for you, rather than working towards only one outcome.
During labour and birth, my support is always shaped around, you, your circumstances, and what you need in the moment, because every labour and birth is unique.
As your due date approaches, I go “on call” for you, remaining available 24/7 around your estimated due date and beyond, without pressure around when your baby arrives.
When labour begins - whether spontaneously, through induction, or via a planned caesarean - my support adapts as things unfold and is guided by you and your individual needs. In the birth space my role can include (but is not limited to):
offering calm, emotional reassurance for you and your partner,
providing practical support with comfort measures, positioning and grounding techniques,
supporting communication and advocacy with your medical caregivers when needed, helping your care reflect your wishes.
After your baby is born, I remain with you to protect your space, support early bonding, offer support with baby’s first feed, and as you begin to land in this new moment.
Post birth, I offer a dedicated reflection visit to create a calm, supportive space to gently process your experience.
This is an opportunity to talk through what happened, ask questions, and make sense of your birth in your own time - whether things unfolded as expected, or not. Many families find this space invaluable for feeling grounded, heard, and supported as they move into early parenthood. This visit is included as part of my birth doula support, regardless of whether you go on to book further postnatal care with me.
If you’d like to explore birth doula support with me, I’d love to speak with you! You can book a clarity call below to talk through what birth support could look like for you.
Tailored support:
There is no one-size-fits-all approach - this is YOUR pregnancy and birth support.
The options below are offered as a guide - some families choose lighter antenatal support, while others prefer more in-depth preparation, such as a full 1:1 birth preparation course (particularly if this is their first baby). Care is always shaped around you, and we can talk through what would feel most helpful during a clarity call.
